Creating a Healthier Customer
The air we breathe is single most important external factor governing our health today. It’s obvious that no one can survive without clean air, yet we take it for granted.
We breathe 2 gallons of air per minute, that’s 3400 gallons of air each day. Air pollution takes away at least 1-2 years of a typical human life. According to the World Health Organisation, 92% live in places where air pollution routinely exceeds safe limits.*
There were an estimated 6.5 million deaths worldwide from air pollution-related diseases in 2012, WHO data shows. That’s 11.6% of all global deaths – more than the number of people killed by Covid-19, tuberculosis and road injuries combined.
Building a safe home, travel and working environment isn't just important, it's essential.
This course is designed to help those in a customer advisory role. The course teaches how to build a better air quality environment for customers. Taking care of customers’ health and helping them make better, more informed decisions when purchasing products and services that effect the very air they, and their loved ones, breathe

Module 1: An Introduction to Healthy Homes Awareness for Building Professionals

This module examines the health impact and, as a result, the rising demand for clean indoor air. Dr McKeon (Dr John) makes the case that the construction industry needs to start talking more about people and not simply focus on products, sustainability and material science.
Module 2: Medical Impact of Poor Indoor Air Quality
The dialogue between building professionals and customers is changing. It is vital for those in the contruction industry to understand what it means to have a healthy indoor air and how that is shaping customer demand. In this module we delve into the statistics, medical language and how to talk to customers in a relatable way. We learn about gasses, particles and biologicals and conduct basic conversations about these hazards. Brief punchy videos not only to understand more about pathogens such as Coronavirus. But how to control the impact of pathogens within a building.
Module 4: What Are Asthma and Allergies?
Asthma and Allergies impact a staggering 50% of US households. Many indoor triggers are causing medical challenges. Dr John teaches us the triggers of asthma and allergies within the home and how to talk about it. We examine the lack of regulation in this area and the confusion this brings to home owners. Module 6: How The Construction Industry is Responding
In this module Dr John will tie together what we now know and introduce Construction Industry veteran, Gorde Cooke, to take us through the latest changes in domestic construction. Gord will review and present the newest trends, including ASHRAE 62.1 & 62.2 standards as well as EPA standards, from the paradigm of healthy indoor air
